During the past few months, lots of uncomfortable growth has been happening to me and my practice. 

The outcome is generally all good! But it's not an easy ride.

Since January, I've been traveling a lot, going to many conferences and seeing private clients in New York and Paris. 

I've always dreamed of seeing clients from all over the world where every single day I'm adjusting someone's spine.

The other day my friend saw a photo of me from my Instagram and it was one of my latest posts of me adjusting someone. 

She said, "Don't you ever have a day off?"

Well, actually, no. 

But I don't look at this as a 'job'. 

Sure, I'll admit, there are some days (it's rare) when I'm so tired that I just can't and won't adjust anyone. 

And when I feel like that, I just tell my husband and kids, "I'm not adjusting anyone today, so don't ask!"

(I have to speak to them quite firmly.)

Basically, I'm adjusting spines almost every day, and it's fantastic. 

It doesn't matter where I am in the world. Someone has a spine that needs to be adjusted.

And lately, it's been more and more these past few months, which is awesome because I'm actually fulfilling my dream!

The growth has been challenging, but I'm doing it. 

I'm making it happen.

What's also happening is that there are some people who used to come to my practice over 2 years ago who bought a package of 12 adjustments, used up only 4 or 5, and then for some reason, didn't come back.

Naturally and understandably, knowing they bought a package of 12 adjustments with me (and knowing they didn't use up all 12), they expect to be able to come back to claim their adjustments.

But it was over 2 years ago since they bought the package.

Until recently, all my packages had a one year expiration date. 

But I noticed that I didn't communicate that clearly.

Now, the package of 12 has a six month expiration date.

Most people use up all 12 because the purpose of the package and the time limit is to encourage you to stick with your care plan so that your body can advance, progress, and improve towards better health.

So, here are the rules when you sign up for ANY long-term plan with me.

  1. Commit to the care plan. If you want to make a change in your life and your health, don't expect long-lasting changes to magically occur within three months. Anything under three months is unrealistic. How long does it take for a tree to grow?

  2. Consistency is (almost) more important than frequency. Once you commit to your care plan, stay consistent with it. So, for example, if it takes you 1 hour to get here, you might commit to come once a week for a double session. Some people do this and they get good results. If that's the best you can do (because of the distance and stress of your journey), then stick with it. Stay consistent.

  3. Be patient. It takes time. Have you, or do you know anyone who has had braces for their teeth? How long does it take for teeth to straighten out? Or, if you are learning a new language, how often do you practice, and do you expect to be fluent in a few weeks? No. Because anything in life for positive long-lasting change to happen takes time. What's that thing they say - it's takes 10,000 hours to because an expert in something. Be an expert in health. Be patient.

  4. Stay focused on the goal. Be determined. I have had many very chronically ill people walk into my practice hanging on to the last bit of hope for a normal life. A normal life! Basic needs. Sleep well, eat and digest food well, be able to have enough energy to get up and go to work, enjoy a social life, have a family, go on a holiday, and be able to enjoy the things that you love. Isn't that pretty basic? These chronically ill people are seriously determined. Because if you don't have your health for a 'normal' life, what the hell do you have?

These rules are there so that you and your family can be successful in getting healthier.

They are very simple.

Anything outside of these rules, good results cannot be expected.

By far, the people who stick with these rules notice very solid, good positive results ranging from simply having no pain and better mobility, to achieving extraordinary transformative experiences in their lives.

Who doesn't want that?!

I want to understand more

You know that question kids like to answer, 

If you were to have one superhero power, what would it be?

Well, my super power would be to know exactly how people think, their beliefs, their values, and how they make their life choices. This kind of thing fascinates me. I'm always trying to figure out someone's thought process. 

This day and age, there are a lot of things to have an opinion about. There are so many things to keep us busy. There's really no reason for any of us to be bored. At the same time, with everything that's out there, there are so many different choices and lifestyles, we find so many people in so many 'camps'.

Liberal or Conservative?

Vegan or Paleo?

Masculine or Feminine?

Natural or Synthetic?

Fast food or Organic?

Running or Yoga?

Breastmilk or Formula?

Chiropractic or Medicine?

There's just so much out there. The lists goes on and on. And everybody's got an opinion about it.

I wanna know where and how and why people get their opinions and beliefs. Are people able to explore the 'other' side objectively? Can people hear other ideas and thoughts? Why are we so resistant to change? Why do people get so offended?

Recently I posted a question on my Facebook page about getting adjusted regularly. It became a threadhole of different opinions about why some people don't get chiropractic adjustments.

How do people not get regular chiropractic adjustments?

My motivation for the question was to understand and know what other people do if they've never gotten an adjustment. I suppose I could have elaborated on the question to help people understand where I was coming from. 

I've been getting adjusted since I was about 11-years-old. So, for the most part, I don't know what it's like NOT getting adjusted. It's been a part of my lifestyle for all this time, and it works for me. When I asked the question, I genuinely wanted to know what people do to stay healthy and feel good. I also wanted to know about those people who did indeed get adjusted in the past, but didn't continue. There were many views.

For the people who didn't continue, their answer was simple and understanding. They didn't have a good experience and never went to another one.

End of.

Most people answered that it's all about being able to afford regular chiropractic care.

Some of my colleagues out there didn't buy that answer. 

I agree.

Saying that you can't afford the regular chiropractic adjustments is baloney to me.

Please, stay with me. Lemme explain.

A large majority of people who come in to see me do so because they are in pain. 

They hurt.

They want to know why.

But the bottom line is, they want the pain to go away.

I tell people time and time again that pain is not the problem. The problem is the problem. But human beings don't automatically think of it that way. People feel pain, react, and then do something to make the pain go away.

But the 'something' is usually a drug or a massage, or they think it's because they slept wrong and eventually, the pain will go away on its own.

When someone comes in to see me, they expect me to 'fix' it and make the pain go away.

It doesn't work that way.

But, for argument's sake, let's go with this.

Most of the time, a series of chiropractic adjustments is very effective in 'making the pain go away'. 

Yes, that initial series is a certain amount of money.

But, once the pain goes away, assuming you're not going to do anything stupid like eat crap food every day, drink loads every day, stay up all night, and treat your body like it's a punching bag, you can actually improve your health and state of discomfort greatly by just making a few changes gradually.

(Just because you get older every year, doesn't mean that your health is supposed to get worse and worse.)

Once the pain goes away, it's MUCH easier to keep the pain away doing good things for your body and mind than to deal with damage control of severe debilitating pain.

Consider that part of that good routine includes regular chiropractic adjustments twice a month. 

And if money is an issue, an adjustment once a month is way better than nothing.

So, if good health is of high value to you in your life, is spending £30-£40 per month impossible?

I'm also talking to those people who come to me initially because of pain, and then they don't come back until the pain comes back. At first thought, when they didn't come back for their regular monthly adjustments (when I told them it's important for their bodies to continue to stay strong and well), I assumed they didn't like me anymore. I took it personally. 

But then when they called me a few months later and said, "I'm in agony. Please can I get adjusted?" That makes me realize that there's something else running the show.

In this case, it's not about the money, because when the pain comes back, it's usually worse than before, and the amount of adjustments needed exceeds the number of months in between the first and next time they visit my practice. So they end up paying more money. 

My view is, if people really knew how powerful just one adjustment is, they'd take time, energy, and their money to continue getting adjusted on a regular basis.

But, I also do recognise that this goes back to my original curiosity. Some people just don't agree with me. They don't think that chiropractic care is important. I understand that. I'm not expecting everyone to agree with me. That's the beauty in conversation.

What I understood from that thread on my Facebook page, people think that chiropractic is, at best, pain relief, and at worst, very dangerous.

It's an ongoing conversation I  have with people. And as the internet doesn't fail, one can find just about anything to support or refute anything we love.

So, what is it really about? 

The bottom line for me is that all I want to do is help people. I know how amazing chiropractic is, and how it can transform someone's life. I've seen it happen over and over again. My mission is to tell people and teach people more and more about chiropractic. 

For me, it's not an argument or debate. It's about purpose and my passion of what I do. I love people. I see greatness in people. Chiropractic is my vehicle in facilitating a person to finding the extraordinary in themselves.

Those obstacles of people's opinions and understanding of chiropractic will always be in front of me, but, I just keep going.

I'll keep helping people through chiropractic.

Butt-shuffling, W-Sitting, and Moody Teenagers

Last time I was in New York, I went to a kid gymnastic class with my friend and her daughter. 

There were a bunch of mums there hanging out, waiting in the mummy-hang-out-area where lots of mums sit and chat during the class.

There were also lots of babies there.

One of the babies was bum-shuffling to move around.

So I asked the mother if she's been doing that for a while.

"For about a month."

Then I asked her if she crawls at all.


(I had a suspicion that she never crawled and she only shuffles.)

So I explained to her that it would be good it she took her to a paediatric chiropractor to assess her spine and pelvis to see if anything is causing that.

Crawling is probably one of the most important developmental milestones.

The action helps create the proper development of the brain and it's direct connection with all the muscles in the body.

The left side of the brain needs to be able to properly communicate with the right side of the brain. 

And the crawling action makes those connections happen with each stride.

Right arm, left leg.

Left arm, right leg.

As your baby develops, many movements and reflexes function to help the brain cross-communicate.

This leads to optimal brain function.

As the child grows, the muscles need to grow and contract properly in order for them to walk properly, become more coordinated, as well as other actions such as speech development, learning, eye sight, and behaviour.

If a baby doesn't crawl, it's indicative of something not ideally developing in the brain and body, and leads to a cascade of other developmental issues.

The next thing that a child might do which is commonly correlated to bum-shuffling is W-Sitting.

W-Sitting is a sign that the 'tone' of the body is hypermobile, or hypomobile.

The younger a child start W-Sitting, the more significant of a problem it can be.

When I explained all this to the mother in NY, another mum piped in and rudely said, "Oh, this stuff doesn't mean anything. How do you know all this?"

I was shocked at how NY-bitchy she was.

She started debating with me!

So I just asked her, "How do you know your child has a healthy spine?"

She just stared at me, like, "Uuuuhhhhhh?"

Then I said, "How do you know if there's a problem in your child's nervous system?"

Again, "Uuuuhhhhhh?"

Then I stopped and decided that I was wasting my breath with her. 

You can bring the horse to the water, but you can't make it drink.

Anyway, let's fast forward through a baby girl's life to age 14.

Often, when I see a teenager with painful periods, horrible headaches, moody PMT month after month, I find out that this girl had signs of improper developmental milestones as a baby.

Bum-shuffling, W-Sitting, late walking.

This can indicate poor spinal development, which can cause a dysfunction in the whole system, affecting other parts of the body's systems.

The hormonal (endocrine) system.

The reproductive system.

The immune system.

The digestive system.

All of it.

This is why it's so important to have all babies checked when they are newborns. 

This will give them more opportunity and likelihood to have proper development of the spine, brain, and nervous system.

So, if your baby isn't crawling, or they aren't properly crawling, bring them in and let me check their spines!

They grow up to be healthy happy kids!

Who wants a severely moody teenager anyway?

Nobody puts Baby in a corner

Patrick Swayze said in Dirty Dancing, "Nobody puts Baby in a corner."

And ...

this has nothing to do with what I want to say. 

Well, it does, but only because my thoughts about this message also started with the word "nobody".

My thought is this:

"Nobody wants to be addicted to drugs for the rest of their life."


Or is that wrong?

Here's my dilemma:

A person I've known for about four years has been going through some tough times lately.

She's been battling insomnia, anxiety, and panic attacks.

Recently it was pretty bad.

I reached out to her because when I see someone I know having trouble, I always want to help.

I can't NOT offer to help.

But, she didn't come back to me, so for whatever reason, she didn't want my help.

She had been taking sleeping pills for months, and she even told me that she was addicted.

And those pills weren't working.

Lack of sleep does a big doozy to everything in your body, including your brain, so I wasn't surprised when she started to have panic attacks.

Long story short, it got bad.

Really bad.

Panic attacks every day.


And on top of the sleeping pills (which weren't working) she started to take anti-depressants and anti-anxiety pills.

This is me getting stuff off my chest here: it was very difficult for me NOT to intervene and tell her that those pills were NOT going to get her healthy.

It took a few months, but fortunately, with some therapy as well, she's stable and feeling better.

The doctor had to figure out how to balance out her dosage for her pills to level things out so she's in a manageable state.

The problem is that this does NOT solve the problem.

Basically, she's relying on those pills to control her body and brain chemistry so she can 'feel' normal and seemingly function normal.

Are the pills the answer?


Definitely not.

This frustrates me even more because I know this person and I care about her.

Yet, this is becoming a huge problem in this country. 

Nearly 30% of the population is on a regular dosage of anti-psychotics or anti-depressants.

That's crazy to me.

The drugs will not 'cure' the person.

The problem will always be there if the body doesn't do its own self-healing.

How long can a person stay on those drugs? 

Five years?



It doesn't end well in many cases when those drugs are taken every day.

I predict massive problems that gradually pile on top of one another as the years go by.

My solution?

It's about changing a person's lifestyle.

Going to the root of the problem.

Listen, most of us adults have so much shit buried deep inside, and you have no idea what the hell is the problem.

When I have a person go through regular chiropractic care for 6 months or more, they are experiencing massive amounts of healing, not just from pain relief, but everything, including that deep shit you buried from when you were 6-years-old.

I'll be the first to tell you that my way is not the easy road, but once you take that route, and get through it, I bet you'll come out stronger than you ever have.

It's how I live my life, facing my problems and issues head-on, front and centre, not avoiding or pretending.

Chiropractic adjustments help you deal with that shit, not just the pain you feel in your back.

It's not about that.

There's so much more involved than just pain.

As for my friend, there's only so much a person will want to do, and as much as I wish I could help, I know I have to respect people's choices.

And then I always hope the best for everyone.

Stand by the people you care about, do what you can do, reach out, and maybe they'll accept your help in the future.

If not, then keeping standing by them.

You can just stand.

In the meantime, I'll keep writing and educating and telling people how awesome chiropractic care is.

Learn how to play Mozart in 12 lessons

Music has been very much around me in many ways all my life.

I used to play the piano from ages nine to seventeen.

I've been feeling the effects of music more, putting me in happier states and simply wanting to sing and dance.

Also, interestingly for some reason, a few of my newest practice members are music professionals.

You know what they say about the law of attraction? 

I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Bottom line is, I love music.

Love it.

Which is why when I describe what Network Spinal Analysis and chiropractic is, I use the analogy of learning an instrument.

I don't use it for everyone (because some people have never really picked up an instrument, or can't remember what it felt like).

Still, I can also use the analogy for how adjustments work.

Lots of people who walk into my practice are in pain.

Lots of pain.

For years.

And often, many of these people have pretty messed up spines.

Locked up joints in the back.

Tight muscles.

Soreness and achiness.

Degeneration of the bones.


Loss of function and motion.

Not. Good.

No bueno.

So they sign up for the Wellness Package, 12 adjustments, hoping it'll be the answer to all their pain.

What I wanna say is "Do you think you'll learn how to play a Mozart piece after 12 lessons?"

Here's the answer.

No siree, Bob.

You might become more familiar with Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So.

But it ain't a symphony.

Which is why it's difficult to tell people the message.

The situation is simple.

You have a stressful life.

You work.

Many of you work at a desk hunched over.


Many of you have bad posture.

If you're lucky, your pain and poor health won't hit you until you're 50. Or 60.

If you're unlucky, you'll feel like shit in your early 20s.

Either way, taking action when your body is screaming for help is NOT the way to go.

The best way is to start NOW.

Some people take action when the body is whispering, "Ooouuuuch. Dooooo sooommmething."

And most people wait until they are fugked.

(It's not what I tell people in the practice, although I have a sneaking suspicion that most people already know that they are fugked. I don't really need to tell them.)

By the time people wait until that point where you need damage control, 12 adjustments is JUST THE BEGINNING.

It's only scratching the surface.

I'll give it to ya straight: most people need to commit to a year of regular care in order for their bodies to get to a much better state of health.

It's not for you?


I respect everyone's choice.

The important point is that it's my responsibility to INFORM everyone.

And I'll keep informing you.

Over and over and over again.

That's how important it is.

So, do you want to learn only how to play do, re, mi, fa, so on the piano?

Or would you like to learn how to smash Eine Kleine Nachtmusik?

Well, it's going to take more than 12 sessions for that to happen.

If health isn't one of your top 3 priorities, you probably won't read this post

I recently had a young man come in who was complaining of bad low back pain.

Very common problem I see in my practice.

Like everyone, he explained all the details of his situation, when it started, how, what, and why.

Very common descriptions of the pain:

  1. achey
  2. dull
  3. "it's right here" (pointing to the spot)
  4. pain, numbness, and tingling down the leg (or both)
  5. hurts more when sitting
  6. can't walk for more than 10 minutes without pain

As he talked about his situation, he elaborated about his past health history and childhood.

Often there's a list of problems that happened as a child, and this information shines out at me as an indicator of why they're in their current state of health.

Another gentleman, three decades older than the first also recently started regular care with me.

The difference between the two men was that the older man wished he could turn back time.

Turn it back, WAY back.

Yet, now it's nearly too late.

That's the bad news.

The good news is that although it'll take more time and patience for his body to heal, it's still doable.

But the way I see it, there's more bad news.

Most people, including the younger man, just don't yet fully realise how important it is to take care of your health.

It's number one in my book.

Because I know a whole lotta people who had to learn the hard way, had their lives completely turned upside down because they didn't know the importance of taking care of their health.

I've heard people try to explain to me what they think chiropractic is and they say,

"It's like an MOT, right?" 

Um, well, a bit.

But not quite.

See, an MOT is a check up, to make sure nothing is broken or faulty.

And if it is faulty, then it gets fixed.

That's a good thing to do. 


Chiropractic care takes it a few steps further though.

Imagine over the course of the year where you drive your car nearly every day, even several times a day; aren't you regularly taking care of it?

Washing it when it gets dirty.

Pumping the tires when they look flatter.

Regular fuel every week.

Changing the oil.

Replacing wipers.

Just generally looking over it to make sure it's in its best running condition, right?

That's what chiropractic care is all about.

Taking care of the spine, your health, and your wellbeing on a regular basis. 

Not just once a year.

By the time you're 65 and in pain, less mobile, grumpy, overweight, and unhealthy, it's not a nice way to live your life and it's a lot harder to get things working in a good way. 


So when I have a young man with 'classic' low back pain, I'm going to get serious with him and do my best to help him understand what his 'almost certain future' will be if he doesn't take action now to get healthier and stay healthy.

Sadly, as I sit here typing this, realising what the subject line of this email says, the people who need to read this probably aren't going to.

And if you are learning something from this email, then I applaude and support you.

It's like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife

Remember that great song back in 1995, "Isn't it ironic" by Alanis Morissette?

I started singing that in my head since yesterday and I can't get it out.

It popped into my head because of what happened shortly after writing my last blog post.

On Friday, I was finishing up my adjusting shift when I noticed my iPhone had a missed call from my kids' school.

Uh oh.

A call from the school always gets me nervous.

(It's never been about anything serious. But still.)

They told me that my eldest wasn't feeling well and wanted to go home.

That's never happened to her.

I've never had a call from the school telling me that my kid wants to come home because they feel so unwell.

So I went to pick her up, and as soon as she saw me, she started crying.

"Mummy, I feel really achy!"

Oh boy. 

I could feel my mummy hat engage and all my worry kicked in.

But then, my doctor hat switched on and I thought, 

"Right. Home, PJs, adjustment, hydrate, sleep."

When we got home, and I got her all settled into bed, I started chuckling inside because I had JUST written on my blog about my kids and how they get adjusted to help their bodies fight off the invaders that cause the fevers.

I was like, "What? Am I being tested here?"

As Alanis sings, isn't it ironic?

From 1:00 on Friday all the way to Saturday morning, my daughter spiked a fever, slept and rested, and during moments of waking briefly I adjusted her and made sure she was as comfortable as possible.

She kept on saying her head hurt and tummy ached.

So in addition to adjusting her, I massaged her head and gave her as much attention as possible to help her fall back asleep.

I let her sleep in my bed with me overnight (my husband is used to this and knows the drill), and to my surprise, she slept very well through the night.

Feverish kids over night could mean anything.

(Nightmares, delirium, vomiting, coughing - you name it)

I also kept telling her that her body is healing and that she needs to allow it to do what it's designed to do.

This morning at 6:55 her voice woke me up as she said, "Mummy, my head doesn't hurt anymore."

I put my had on her forehead.

No fever!

"How's your tummy?"

"Um, I think it's OK. I'm thirsty. I'm going downstairs."

So she got up and didn't come back into bed.

I started hearing laughter and movement from the kids, so I got up too.

My kids were all awake and full of energy.

No ill kid in sight.

It ALWAYS amazes me.

Healthy, kids (and adults) who get their spines and nervous systems adjusted heal better, faster, and stronger.

(Without any antibiotics or paracetamol)

My daughter had that fever for less than 24 hours. And today she's had a full-on happy and normal day today.

The mummy-side of me kept checking on her, "Are you OK? How do you feel?"

She started to get annoyed with me really fast.

"MOM, I'm FINE!"


Deep down, I'm so relieved, proud, and grateful that her body did some awesome healing!

Health starts NOW. Don't forget to get adjusted!

Don't be that person

I don't think people understand the importance of getting their spines checked, adjusted, and keeping it healthy.

In fact, I KNOW they don't understand it.

And that's on me.

As a professional, a leader, an educator, and a healer who is passionate about helping people be healthier, feel great, and love their lives, it's a responsibility to keep sharing the benefits of chiropractic adjustments.

I'm not telling people enough how important it is to get adjusted.

Since November coming into this Winter season, I have noticed more and more people becoming so unwell with fevers, coughs, colds, headaches, pain, aches, stress - you name it.

Even worse, it's the children that are getting these symptoms over and over.

It's essential to keep the body in a healthy state so it can do what's necessary to purge the bacteria or virus which overwhelms the system.

(OK, I know. By now your eyes are glazing over and this email is getting dull. Your attention span is about 8 seconds before you hit the delete button.)

Stay with me.

I know everyone doesn't have a chiropractor in their family.

I get it.

When my husband and my kids are feeling poorly, they get adjusted every day, sometimes twice or three times a day! 

(It's very convenient and they're lucky, they know.)

Just think of it this way: you'd pop that paracetamol at least once a day, wouldn't you? 

Have you ever asked yourself (with a clear answer) why you're giving yourself or your kids paracetamol?

(Hint: it doesn't cure anything.)

Guess what?

My kids have never had a dose of antibiotics or paracetamol.


(Cue the shock, horror, scandal music.)

Some of you might think that's extreme.

I understand.

But, in my view, popping paracetamol (and by looking at the actual statistics worldwide, and the risks involved), it's an unnecessary drug for nearly all common fevers, coughs, and colds.

Children who are checked and adjusted regularly from as early as birth are healthier, get less illnesses, and are more aware of what their bodies can do.

The fear of being 'sick' is just not there.

Kids who get adjusted understand how their bodies work.

When I opened my practice, I sat on a dilemma, an obvious obstacle given that not everyone has a chiropractor in their family.

Pills and tablets are conveniently located in the medicine cabinet. But you can't have a chiropractor perched in there too.

(Wouldn't that be nice?)

So I created the Family Plan.

£200 a month for unlimited amount of adjustments (committing to a minimum of a 3-month plan).

Most people wait until they are in uncomfortable pain to get adjusted.

Don't be that person.

The whole point is to insert your adjustments in like another healthy act into your lifestyle.

And when you (or your child) are feeling poorly, that's when your body needs more help to stay in optimal function.

If you keep getting ill with coughs, colds, fevers, fatigue, digestive problems, or whatever, it's because your body is not efficiently able to heal.
